Greetings friends, it has been ages since I have posted anything new on the blog. There is always a reason for big gaps like this, on my case there have been a few, first and most important of all it has been being father for the second time, in later December. Having a second kid, on a Country where you have not family at all is difficult, there is nobody to help, or to stay with one or both kids to even enjoy a dinner out with your spouse, as you can imagine not having time to other than kids have been really difficult to justify spend nights or weekends on the lab and blog.
On the possitive side, these things are temporary of course, babys grow and require less constant attention, so I am expecting to continue testing technologies and sharing my thoughts and findings as much as possible.
Now, going back to the title of the blog article. Back in April I’ve changed positions inside the Company I work for, Veeam, from a fantastic presales journey of four years, into Product Management as a Senior Analyst.
The position as a Senior Analyst was a really good one, and move more into the core of the business, to the dream factory, where everything is possible as long as there is a business justification and a market to explore, it has been superb.
Product Management at Veeam has always been a team I admire, and respected for years. Since the days as a Veeam Vanguard where I met some of them in Las Vegas, where they showed us what was coming in future releases, etc. I knew that some day being part of that team would be an absolute dream.
It is truly the best role I have been so far, I’ve started getting to know all the team, how every product is created, knowing the developers, QA, Tech writers, and much more important people that I have never discussed before on the presales side. First couple of months were amazing, with some work that I hope it will get published soon around API. Besides that work, and talking with Customers, and Partners regarding API enhancements, etc. Main focus have shifted as well to jump and help on the forums, so I spend a good few hours per day reading every single thread, testing, contributing, and helping as much as possible.
The Journey to the Centre of The Product has become even more interesting, as since June 15th, the Veeam ONE Product Manager position was offered to me. Having the responsibility of a product like Veeam ONE is really huge.
For starters, this product is one of the more veterans within Veeam along Backup and Replication, second it has ton of funcionality like real-time monitoring, reporting, automated remediaton, and alerting.
That said, with a huge responsibility comes huge opportunity as well. I am excited to be part of this great moment, I hoping to bring all the monitoring experience from InfluxDB, Grafana, PRTG, Nagios, and all other products I have been using for years, to keep improving VONE, have soime new and fresh dashboards, etc.
